I just wanna say there was a lot of domestic abuse in my household growing up. And who was the abuser? My mother. She drank, smoked, sore, threatened with knives, punched, kicked, and told my dad she wished he\'d choke in his sleep and die. My dad never once hit my brother or I, or even called my mom a bad name. He pushed her away once when she was clawing at his face. Its my personal belief that men are victimized more than women, but men are taught to be tough and hold out, making the abuse worse because it carries on longer. And that women are just as big, if not bigger and worse abusers than their men, especially because they\'re around the kids more, and have a large impact on the children. My mom had one on me, and it gave me anorexia and anxiety attacks. Thanks, mom, and all women who defend her. And call my dad the abuser when I\'ve never once witnessed him do anything violent, I\'ve only seen her like many women beat down his masculinity, call him names, and suck everything out of his soul, and demand divorce unless their needs and happiness are met. It disgusts me.

Brittany, I appreciate the disgusting nature of that Facebook link. I also noticed that the man had also posted the photo himself by way of bragging. It frankly turned my stomach.

But harm (physical or emotional) against one group doesn't justify blind hate against another. Should 5+ million Germans be slaughtered to make up for the holocaust! Of course not. Should men who've never been sexist towards women be treated as inferiors! Of couse not.

Discrimination is based upon prejudiced and limiting behaviour towards 1 or more people based upon a real (or perceived) belonging to a group. Part of the solution is to make it known that the 'victims' are not all alike and, similarly, that their persecutors are also not all alike in their attitudes, beliefs or appearance. Besides, we can all change. Even misogynists or misandrists.

Here's a proactive thought - someone should create a website that aims to educate women AND MEN about the issues of sexism (against either gender). Include examples of sexist behaviour (for both genders). Point out that the pain of childbirth is not adequate reason to diminish men's responsibility in child-rearing.

Here's an existing website:

http://www.understandingprejudice.org

Here's a few examples of female chauvinism:
'women are more mature than men'
'the difference between men and boys is the size of their toys'
the idea that men who like cooking are effeminate (or even 'gay')
the same for liking opera, plays, dancing, ballet...
the idea of 'manning up' or 'growing a pair'
Women EXPECTING men to always make the first move in a relationship - I'm not against confidence, but men have the right to be shy, awkward, and 'mediocre'

As I said on FB: they do not think about the fact that if a single battery powered camera could light up the whole of Croatia (or even football stadium) for a 90 km radius then we probably wouldn't have the energy problems we do.

The flash one should also be explained to supporters at large sporting events and rock gigs. I know it looks cool having lots of flash bulbs going off in the audience, but do they really expect them to light the pitch/stage? Maybe they are hoping that they will all flash in a cluster and do collective illumination?

I would also add the selling of compact camera with more than 8MP resolution as 'better'. There is no resolving power in a typical compact lense above that, so it is better to concentrate on making more sensitive cameras, but this does not fit with the marketing model.

The light from a camera flash can light up an entire landscape. I saw someone in an aeroplane take a photo of a twilight landscape out of the window and repeatedly use the flash.

Via Marco:

- pressing an elevator button repeatedly makes the elevator come faster
- likewise: clicking on an icon repeatedly makes the app start faster
- especially true for English native speakers: if someone does not understand your English so well, just speak louder
